Iztok Jarc, His Excellency Ambassador of Slovenia to the Court of St James recently visited Edinburgh to establish new economic as well as cultural links together with Scotland. Mrs. Ana Wersun, Consul General of the Republic of Slovenia in Scotland issued an invitation for him so he attended a reception in the European Parliament offices during Wednesday night. Purposely, this is to mark the elevation of Slovenia’s mission in Scotland to General Consulate.

Unfortunately, a few of the members of the planned delegation were not able to come because of flight restrictions imposed because of the recent Icelandic volcanic eruption. Mayor of Slovenian municipality of Bled namely Mr. Janez Fajfar along with two other respected Slovene chefs were also invited to join the Ambassador in Scotland’s capital to present a traditional Slovenian cookery.

For those who have successfully visited like Consul General Ana Wersun, she felt delighted with how the reception took place during Wednesday evening plus she enjoyed their successful discussion with Janez. Slovenia as well as Scotland is very similar in a lot of aspects and the visit between two officials from each country will help in the merge of business as well as tourism with both countries.
