Slovenia’s former midfielder and Austria Vienna’s midfielder, Milenko Acimovic has retired from his soccer career after he got himself a persistent right knee injury.
The well-known Slovenian international went through a surgery last April yet he wasn’t able to full recover from the said operation. Acimovic stated that he still wanted to play but he had to take pain killers while he plays which he considers useless.
Milenko Acimovic, 33 years old had stints at Red Star Belgrade, Tottenham and Lille, played 74 matches and has scored 13 goals for the Slovenian national team from 1997 to 2008.

The Slovenian team is currently looking forward to at least reaching the knockout stages for this year’s FIBA World Championship.
The Slovenian national team was able to join the semi-finals during the EuroBasket 2009 and must reach this year’s FIBA World Championship with enough confidence. Based from Slovenia’s performances, a lot of viewers believe they can reach the latter stages in Turkey though this would be surely a tough game.

Last 10th of August, Ljubljana’s newest stadium as well as indoor arena officially opened with a friendly basketball game between Slovenia and Spain while the 16,000 stadium was planned to be opened on the following day with a football game between Slovenia and Australia. Ljubljana and Slovenia has finally established a stadium wherein top sports, concerts as well as events can take place.
One of Europe’s sports capitals is Ljubljana which opened the Stozice Arena, a new and modern stadium which is amongst the best and finest arenas within Europe. The said stadium has a capacity to hold 12,550 individuals.
A match between the Slovenian National Team and the Spanish National Team was the opening game for the arena’s official launching. Although the Slovenian team lost after overtime with a score of 72-79, it was still a successful friendly opening game. The important thing here is the successful official opening of new Stozice Arena.
The following day, a football game between Slovenia and Australia will be held at the new football stadium that can accommodate 16,000 viewers. This said football stadium is located in the same sports complex with their newest arena.
