Russian Anna Chakvetadze of Russia triumphed over Swede Johanna Larsson of Sweden with a score of 6-1, 6-2 during the Slovenia Open final last Sunday. This is her first WTA Tour Title after she last won two and a half years ago.
In each set, Chakvetadze broke twice versus Larsson, who was playing for her first final and who unluckily missed all three breakpoint chances during the second set. At present, Chakvetadze holds a total of 8 WTA Tour titles wherein her last one was from February 2008 held at Paris.
Although during the top five game in 2007, Anna Chakvetadze fell into the 103rd rank, during her game in Portoroz, Slovenia, she ousted three outstanding players namely Sara Errani, Vera Dushevina as well as Polona Hercog to reach the finals. Though the match was delayed for 2 hours due to rain, Anna Chakvetadze successfully won her title.
