Slovenia beat Iran Slovenia in the U16 Türk Telecom International Tournament basketball game. Iran lost to Slovenia with a score of 71-60 in Group B last Saturday. The Iran basketball team will be playing with Bulgaria who has recently defeated China during the second match. The U16 Türk Telecom International Tournament brought 12 basketball teams in total and the said event takes place in Gaziantep and will last up to February 12.

Samuel Zbogar, Slovenian Foreign Minister has emphasized the vitality of enhancing the ties with Iran in all areas stressing out that Tehran is viewed as a key partner of Ljubljana, Slovenia’s capital city.

Based on the meeting together with the Iranian Ambassador to Ljubljana Mohammad Rahim Aqaeipour, the Slovenian minister claimed that the inauguration of Iran’s embassy within their country is a beginning of the improvement of bilateral relations in different political, economic and cultural fields.

They emphasized that Slovenia and Iran have a great potential for flourishing the economic situation. Last November 14, Aqaeipour, the first Iranian ambassador to Ljubljana passed his credentials to Slovenian President Danilo Turk.

Iran’s very first ambassador to Slovenia namely Mohammad Rahim Aqaiepour has given his credentials to the country’s foreign ministry director for European Union affairs. Through establishing Iran’s embassy in Ljubljana, they will be able to sustain a balance in the diplomatic relations between the two countries. According to Aqaiepour, Tehran as well as Ljubljana must do their job to increase the cooperation in every area especially in the economic aspect.
